Goodbye Dutchy
Dutchy was our Dromedary Camel that we had sprung from a petting zoo he had outgrown. We fell in love with him the moment we saw him at a month old. He came to live on the ranch at 7 months and was the center of attention the entire time he spent with us!
Unfortunately, after 2 years Dutchy eventually outgrew our facilities here at DVR. His playful spirit finally became too much for even his best buddy, Yogi the llama, who he came to outweigh by over 400 pounds!
We had to make the tough decision to find him a home with other camels his own size. He is now happy and content in the wonderful confines of the Terry Bison Ranch complex in Cheyenne, WY. There he keeps company with their herd of over 10 camels, and will be kept entertained with their professional training program, and year-round visitors.
Still, not a day goes by without us thinking of our buddy Dutchy, remembering the joy he brought to us, and our many visitors! We'll miss you Dutchy! |
